Slovenia may be small but it has a huge local student population. The local state universities are also well known for being the best in Europe. Tourism also forms the backbone of the local economy and thousands of tourists throng the city during summer to enjoy the wonderful weather. The state capital Ljubljana hosts a few of the best musical events and Ljubljana concerts in the whole of Europe just to entertain tourists and students who throng the city during summer. A few of the most famous events include the following:

The Druga Godba is one of the most famous Ljubljana concerts hosted every year. This vibrant festival is held early in June and hosts a range of performers from all over the world. The event is held at the Krizanker Summer Theater Complex which is actually a renovated ancient Teutonic monastery with amazing acoustics. Last year, the open air auditorium in the complex hosted bands and artistes from the Balkans, Vietnam, Africa, South America and even the Caribbean. 

The Ljubljana Festival or Classical Music and Jazz Festival has thousands of bands and professional artistes from around the world performing from late July. The events are spread out over 24 different venues in the capital city and most of are free. For example, students can try the Town Hall, the Museum, the Cathedral, the Triple Bridge and St Florian’s Church for free events during peak summer time. This year there seems to be a free production of Jesus Christ Superstar that is open for locals and tourists. 

Along with these world famous events, festivals in Bled and Piran are particularly famous. Bled hosts the International Music Festival in July while Piran hosts the Piran Musical Evenings all through August. To find the latest and the best festivals hosted in the state, we suggest you check with the local events calendar present on the Slovenia State website. Make sure that you book your tickets beforehand too as the Ljubljana concerts and musical events are usually fully booked by July end. Accommodation too can be very difficult to find. Book in advance to avoid disappointment and to be able to enjoy the festival.
